(Advent Week 3: JOY) TO DO List

1 week before Christmas To-Do List

  • Shopping done.  No.
  • Presents wrapped. No.
  • Baking done.  No.
  • Christmas cards done.  No.
  • Ready.   Yes. Can’t wait!!!!
It’s one of those years.  Again.  There was a time that I would have felt it was a major fail.  Not now. Those kind of expectations messed with me until there was no joy in me or in the household.
From the perspective of the first Christmas, a completed holiday to-do list  is not even close to the joy of Christmas.
I admit, this is a giant leap from my past holiday expectations.
With everything within me, I don’t want to go back to the way it was. Ever.
Of course, it’s a process.  Yet.  All the hopes and dreams of what Christmas brings could never fill a shopping bag, fit under the tree, or be fulfilled in a completed to-do list.
This week . . . on top of the list . . . JOY!
I’m talking about the kind of joy that changes everything, even the atmosphere:
Consider this kind of joy, an all out joy that has nothing to do with the to-do list but all to do with the first Christmas.

Today . . . light the candle symbolizing hope . . .  light the candle symbolizing love . . . and light the candle symbolizing joy, the kind that has nothing to do with the to-do list..
