Simplicity: Focused on the essentials of living the best life.

Take A Moment

4

Sometimes life is too much.  There’s just too much to deal with, too much to manage, too much of everything.  Those who have been around me for more than 2.5 seconds will quickly tell you what my first word of advice is:

1.  BREATHE.

Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10, NLT).

Simple.  I know.  But.  Taking a moment away from it all gives space to refocus on the things that matter.  The thing is . . .  in the midst of it all, as the pressure and stress builds . . . what matters easily becomes lost.  So.  First things first.  Connect with the presence of God.

It requires a conscious effort to become still, to find the time to step out of all that is happening, solely focusing  on God.

2.  STOP.  FOCUS on the presence of God.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. (Isaiah 40:28, NRS)

When the awareness of the presence of God is real, there’s nothing more powerful than giving thanks, regardless of everything going on.

3.  GIVE THANKS TO GOD.  Say THANK YOU!

Always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:20, NCV).

At first glance, taking a moment to breathe, focus, and give thanks does not seem to change anything.  But.  It does.  It changes you and me, which is the key to living in this messy, busy, stress-filled life.  At the end of the day, the way life is managed matters more than the issues at hand.

Take a moment.  Breathe.  Stop.  Focus on God.  Give thanks.  This is THE LIFE–Kerrie

Thank you so much for your text this morning. I will never forget the moments I would come to you especially before court all stressed out and you would calmly say to me breathe! Its going to be okay! Just breathe. At first it kind of irritated me 😉 but it worked every single time. So many moments of needing to breathe and here I am getting the chance tomorrow night to remind others to breathe! God is good! Thank you for blessing me today!
