We spent the last few days trying to say good-bye. Agnes Elizabeth lived a long life; however, it still seemed too soon. We sat beside her, trying to tell her everything, sharing stories from the past, declaring our love several times over, reminding her of what was ahead.
We were told there would be more time; however, we had a sense of urgency. Even, so. We were surprised when our time together abruptly ended on June 29, 2015. While we believe it was time for a new beginning for her, saying good-bye was hard to do. We are left behind knowing she stepped into the divine reality of heaven, where she is experiencing full love, joy, and peace, fully healed in the presence of God and all those who went ahead of her,
She crossed over the finish line with cheering on earth and in heaven as she completed the race. Now. She is one of our cheerleaders heaven-side as we keep running the race. It’s what Hebrews 12 says:
So since we stand surrounded by all those who have gone before, an enormous cloud of witnesses, let us drop every extra weight, every sin that clings to us and slackens our pace, and let us run with endurance the long race set before us” (Hebrews 12: 1, The Voice).
There’s so much more to say–but until I gather my thoughts, Jesus words underscore a life well-lived:
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together “(Matthew 25:21, NLT)!
“Well done good and faithful servant. We celebrate your life.”
Even when it’s hard to say good-bye, life is to be celebrated. I hope you have an opportunity to celebrate today. It matters–Kerrie
