Life as a pastor is all at once awesome, hard, and surprising. Yesterday is case in point. I sat with individuals, listening to their personal narratives, none less or greater in value.
Encouraging with God-words was key throughout the day:
Don’t be afraid. I am with you. I give you peace.
These words echo throughout time,
given to all
to sit on, to wrestle with, to live by.
One thing I’ve learned is the Spirit puts these words to work in the world, offering the invitation to participate in the more of God, strengthening the seeker while simultaneously touching the individuals in grave danger of losing hope. Sometimes the truth of the God-words are found in the valley of life and other times on the top of the mountain. No matter when or where, everything shifts when the truth is allowed to rule within, making for a very eventful and awesome life.
So. Yesterday. I ended the day, encouraged more than ever after sharing the truth along the way.
Lesson learned: Speak it over and over. The TRUTH changes the narrative of the one who speaks as well as listens.
I encourage you to make the time to speak and listen to these God-words whether you are on the mountain or in the valley, allowing the truth to underline your narrative.
