This is why . . .

I’m often asked, “Why, Church?  Why do you expend so much energy and time on church in this time of your life?

Here’s my simple answer:

Church is the work of the Spirit of God who calls people to come together through the most amazing love that a community of faith is formed with the purpose to love God and one another, impacting the world like no other group of people possibly can.

The church is the body of Christ.

Once again I’ve seen the power of being church.

Last night, Gregg and I met with a group of RDC friends who’ve been challenged by the hard of life.

did what has been done since Jesus came so long ago.

asked God to be present in our time together,

sang songs,

meditated on God-words,

and took communion.

promised to be “for” God and one another.

It was church.  I know it may seem too simple in this complicated era.  Luke wrote about the same thing in the beginning days of the early church:

ACTS 2:42 The community continually committed themselves to learning what the apostles taught them, gathering for fellowship, breaking bread, and praying.

As simple as it is . . . the gathering of those who hear the call of God to come together will change the world through amazing-unstoppable love, peace, and hope–the reason for RDC.

Of course, it’s a learning process as well as a commitment to become church.

One thing I can say for sure is the learning process and commitment to be church is not always easy  . . . BUT . . .  it’s worth more than what can ever be imagined.  I will always be grateful to be a part of the Spirit of God’s work in the world through the people called THE RED DOOR COMMUNITY CHURCH.

Here’s the bottom line: I’ve made the decision to risk it all . . . to live the adventure of a lifetime . . . to be a part of the called.

This is why–Kerrie

RDC believes:

  • The key to the meaning of life is living in a relationship with God and one another.
  • The key to living the best life is to be equipped to respond.
  • The  key to living with purpose is to reach out to others, doing what matters, and making a difference.

UNITE, EQUIP, and UNLEASH in Christ.

  • UNITE with God and one another. (Relationship)
  • EQUIP each person to live the best life. (Response)
  • UNLEASH the church to impact the world. (Reach)
